 Topic : Creating a new department of study in high school

Ethan : disagree・We don't need to go to a specialized department to get a job. The people who went to specialized aviation departments were not able to get jobs because of the coronavirus. To avoid such a situation, we should not create specialized departments.

Sow : Neutral ・This is good for students who have already decided on the career they want to pursue, but for those who have not decided on anything, it simply narrows down their future possibilities. There is a limit to the number of classes in a high school, and with the increase in specialized classes, there is a possibility of academic deficiency.

My thoughts

       I think it is a good idea to create a new specialized department. However, I think their discussion lacked realism and detail. Changing the class structure of a high school is a major undertaking that will affect the admissions process and the curriculum, so we need to work out the details and figure out if it's a good idea or not.  

       I think specialized departments are very good for students who want to go to those departments. However, there are times when students enroll in a department that they do not want to go to due to academic or other reasons. This is actually a problem in Japan. I think we should look into the case studies of other countries that have specialized departments and see if they have a positive impact on our students.
